Geographical location of
Sulduz plain
First of all for finding
a clean understanding of the formation of this fertilize plain need to
understand the junction of Zagros and Ararat mountains. One of the highest
points in this area is a mountain with the elevation of 3480 meters from sea
level in “Ghader plain” which Oshnaviye is located on the east south of
this mountain. In the east side we have another mountain range with total
length of 20 km formed another mountain named “Khan Tavoos” and formed a point which is “Ilanlu Dagh” in the middle point of Urmia to Naghadeh. This
mountains are in the north part of Sulduz plain.
West and southwest parts are formed by smaller mountains which “Maran mount” counted as one of this ones and then reach to a point named “Farangi” in the 25 km of Mahabad city. This mountains passes from the south part of Naghadeh and reach to the north part of Mahabad. In this part till the junction of “Bahramloo bridge” which is constracted on “Gadar river” till to the Urmia lake. So the south and south east of Sulduz plain separated from the other cities.
Area: the length of the plain is about 54 km and
the width is about 20 km. it mean the area more or less is about 1080 square
km.
